“How Much do you Charge?”

(Sorry for the length, but important information!) Last week, I received a call at the office, and this is how it went… Me: Thank you for calling Cielo Aesthetics & Wellness.  How may I help you? Caller: How much do you charge for Botox®? Me: Hello! Have you had Botox or any of the other neuromodulators before? Caller: (rudely) Just tell me what you charge for Botox! Me: We charge $11… (cut off by caller) Caller: (even more rudely) That’s more than I pay in Scottsdale! Me: Well, then you should stay in Scottsdale. I don’t usually “show my ass” like that to a client, but she was so rude and frankly, this sort of thing is happening too often lately.  I’m a human being, a business professional (though admittedly I didn’t show that at the end of the call) and a highly trained aesthetic specialist who’s not only been…

Be Careful Where You Purchase Your Skin Care Products!

We at Cielo Aesthetics & Wellness take great pride in providing only the very best in skin care lines for our clients.  You should find the following article from New Beauty Magazine  (2018) enlightening if you’re currently purchasing your “name brand” skin care online…we have further to say at the end, so please read on! Government Report Finds Amazon and Walmart Are Selling Counterfeit Products—Including Cosmetics Containing Toxins The internet can be a bit of a Wild West situation when it comes to purchasing beauty products. Not getting what you paid for is never a plus but, as a new report released by the U.S. Government Accountability Office this week suggests, there may be some much bigger risks involved in the road to rip-off. According to the report, which can be read in full here, the investigators purchased a total of 47 products from third-party sellers from Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Sears Marketplace and Newegg.…

Am I Going To Bruise?

Bruising…it may be the single greatest fear in all of us who chose to undergo anti-aging  treatments like Botox and Dermal Fillers.  We’ve undergone the treatment to look our best and then walk around sporting an unsightly mark declaring to all that we’ve succumbed to our vanity.  😊 As you can see from the photo, it’s amazing that we don’t bruise far more often!  While we never promise that a client won’t get a bruise from injectable or other treatments, we can share steps to reduce the risk by quite a bit.   A Week Before Your Procedure To reduce bruising risk, avoid those things we know increase bleeding: NSAIDS (aspirin, Motrin, Aleve, etc.) Vitamin E Alcohol Omega 3 Oils Green Tea Garlic Gingko Avoiding the above for a week to ten days prior to your treatment and two to three days after will help reduce the amount of bruising…

Do You Know About Sculptra Aesthetic?

Scultpra® Aesthetic  What is Sculptra®?  It is an injectable poly-L-lactic acid/collagen stimulator that has been approved for cosmetic use to treat shallow-to-deep nasolabial folds and other facial wrinkles. Injectable poly-L-lactic acid thickens skin and stimulates the body to replace lost collagen, the primary structural protein found in skin. It provides the supple, elastic quality associated with youth. Unfortunately, our body’s natural supply of collagen is depleted as we age. Sculptra® Aesthetic provides subtle results over time. A full course of treatment includes as many as four sessions spaced between three and eight weeks apart. The results may last for more than two years. Because Sculptra® is reconstituted with sterile water and lidocaine, most clients find the treatment far less uncomfortable then they anticipated.  Your provider may offer topical or injectable anesthetic to block the nerves so you don’t feel pain. Pro-nox™ (a nitrous oxide/oxygen delivery system) is becoming increasingly popular…

Considering an Anti-Aging/Facial Rejuvenation Procedure?

Whether you are unhappy with the changes you see in the mirror or are determined to prevent those changes from occurring, there are a number of things to take into consideration before you start your journey.  The following will help you make the right decision in finding the best provider for you.  Reason: WHY do you want to have treatment? What is the benefit/outcome you wish to achieve? Research:  The aesthetic industry continues to grow, with millions spent annually on anti-aging and beauty product and treatments.  Many are hoping to benefit from these sales - from brand new nurse graduates to orthopedic surgeons.  What that means to you is that a provider may have little to no experience in the industry. Millennials and “Prejuvenaton”

Millennials are hoping to prevent aging by focusing on “prejuvenation,” such as injectables -  a trend spurred by social media and celebrities. A reported 64% of member facial plastic surgeons reported an increase in cosmetic surgery or injectable treatments in the under 30 crowd, according to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). They are using these treatments as a preventative measure; facial muscles that cause wrinkles can be trained to move less, thus stopping wrinkles before they start, according to AAFPRS. “We’re seeing an uptick in the popularity of injections like Botox, Xeomin and Dysport in millennials," said Dr. Edwin Williams, AAFPRS president and facial plastic surgeon. "Social media makes young patients increasingly aware of their lines and wrinkles, and thanks to celebrities and the internet, they know that there are ways to correct it and maintain their youthful skin," Williams said. AAFPRS members agreed that the biggest trend for the future…
